VelobirBikes VERTIKALE
Race-gravel bike. Built for 5200Euro (April 2026)
Born from the pursuit of the absolute: The Vertikale. A race-gravel bike in its purest DNA, built for life's verticals - whether on gravel or on the road.
Uncompromising matte black, from frame to cassette. At its heart: 50mm deep carbon rims on DT Swiss 240 hubs, fitted with 40mm tires (max. 50mm possible). Shifting is precise and electronic via GRX 1x12 (42T crank, 11-51 cassette).
This bike is my highest quality project to date - a true pleasure to build this masterpiece for a special customer.

VelobirBikes Horizon
Endurance Road Bike – Frame Size 52
- This bike was built for €1,000 (December 2025)
- Low-Budget Build with New Frame and Used Components
- The foundation of this build is a new full-carbon endurance frame in size 52. With tire clearance up to 38 mm, the bike remains versatile and comfortable, making it ideal for long rides on a wide variety of road surfaces.
The frame was deliberately paired with proven, used components taken from a previous bike. All parts were carefully inspected and professionally installed, resulting in a sustainable and cost-efficient build that demonstrates how much performance is possible even on a limited budget. The entire build was completed for well under €1,000.
VelobirBikes Horizon AXS
Endurance Road Bike – Frame Size 56
- This bike was built for €4,400 (November 2025)
- Nothing Was Left to Chance
- A full-carbon frame in size 56, combined with a carbon fork, carbon seatpost, and a fully integrated 100 mm stem, delivers maximum stiffness while maintaining a high level of comfort. The frame offers tire clearance up to 38 mm, adding versatility for a wide range of riding conditions.
- Its modern endurance geometry makes it perfectly suited for long-distance rides and demanding alpine climbs.
- The new SRAM Force AXS electronic drivetrain, featuring the latest ergonomically refined shifters, ensures precise, fast, and silent shifting in every situation.
- Thanks to the 2x crankset with 33/46 chainrings paired with a 10–36 cassette, the bike provides an excellent climbing gear range—ideal for long ascents as well as fast descents.
- Braking is handled by SRAM Force AXS hydraulic disc brakes, delivering powerful, reliable, and finely controllable stopping performance in all weather conditions.
- The full-carbon wheelset with a 38 mm rim depth combines aerodynamics, low weight, and stability.
- They are fitted with Continental Grand Prix tires in 32 mm width—in my opinion one of the best road bike tires available, offering outstanding rolling resistance, grip, and comfort, especially on the often rougher roads of Carinthia.
- The 400 mm handlebar width was selected based on shoulder width to ensure an ergonomic and aerodynamically optimized riding position.
Ridley Fenix SLA AXS Endurance Roadbike
Frame Size XS (51), Weight: 8.1 kg.
- This bike was built for 2300Euro (July 2025)
- A size 51 aluminum frame combined with a carbon fork, carbon seatpost, and a 90 mm stem forms the basis of this build. The extremely lightweight aluminum frame, together with the carbon components, helps dampen vibrations where it matters most—while keeping the bike highly cost-effective. Frame size selection was based on rider height and inseam measurements. Using sizing charts combined with personal experience, the optimal frame size and stem length were selected to ensure a balanced and comfortable riding position.
- The bike is equipped with the SRAM APEX AXS XPLR electronic drivetrain, a high-quality and excellent-value entry into electronic shifting, offering outstanding performance for its price point.
- Braking is handled by SRAM APEX AXS hydraulic disc brakes, providing reliable and consistent stopping power.
A 1x drivetrain was chosen, featuring a 40-tooth chainring and 165 mm crank arms. Since the rider wanted a bike with strong climbing capability and no intention of riding long-distance marathons, the decision was made in favor of a simple and efficient 1x setup. - The 12-speed 10–44 cassette delivers an excellent gear range, ideal for beginners and perfectly suited for alpine mountain passes.
- The 400 mm road handlebar width was selected based on shoulder width to ensure an ergonomic fit.
- The bike rolls on Mavic aluminum wheels, fitted with Continental Grand Prix tires in 28 mm width. Mavic is known for producing high-quality wheelsets, and the Continental Grand Prix is, in my opinion, the road bike tire. With a minimum recommended width of 28 mm, these tires provide significantly improved comfort—especially on the often rough roads of Carinthia.
